Making the Most of Your Laundry Room
One of the most important, though often neglected, areas of the home is the laundry room. The never-ending cycle of laundry means that many of us spend quite a bit of time in the space that houses our washer and dryer.
Instead of feeling dread when you think about doing laundry, transform your laundry room into a well-organized space that helps you complete your clothing-related tasks more efficiently.
Add shelving over your machines: Install built-in shelves over your washer and dryer for storing products such as laundry soap, dryer sheets, and stain removers. If you have a stacked washer and dryer, add shelving beside the machines. A mix of closed and open shelves allows you to store cleaning supplies and detergent out of sight while displaying pictures, collectibles and other decorations to liven up the room. Using baskets to store small items will keep your shelves tidy and organized.
Include a built-in ironing board, folding area and drying rack: Integrating these items into your laundry room keeps you from doing laundry-related chores in other areas of your home. A well-organized and functional space allows you to do everything you need to clean and care for your clothes in one room.
Don’t forget a sink: Installing a sink in your laundry room makes it easier to hand-wash clothes and treat stains without cluttering up other areas of your home.

Install a tall cabinet for oversized cleaning items: Many people choose to store their cleaning supplies in the laundry room, utilizing closed cabinets to hide them from view. Having a tall cabinet to store items such as your broom, mop and vacuum is helpful so you can keep everything cleaning-related in one space.
