A Dream Space for the “Closet Queen”

What She Wanted

A former member of the military, Danielle S. built her home from the ground up—something she had been waiting to do for 20 years. She is now known as the “Official Closet Queen” among her closest friends. They gave her this nickname because Danielle would show them magazine clippings of closets she loved, serving as inspiration for her dream design.

Danielle was drawn to California Closets San Antonio design consultant Carly Montoya’s warm personality and keen attention to detail, trusting her to oversee her long-awaited closet transformation

How we did it

Carly loved Danielle’s boutique-like vision and was eager to make the highly personalized space of her dreams a reality. One key element for Danielle’s dream closet? A solution for her collection of shoes, which she kept stacked in disorganized shoe boxes.

I did a lot of moving in the military, so I kept all of my shoes in the boxes. I told Carly, ‘You have to light my shoes up. I have to be able to walk in, hit a switch and see all my shoes light up.’ She made that happen for me.

At the same time, Carly lent an expert eye to the process, carefully reviewing elements in Danielle’s inspiration photos to bring Danielle’s vision to life. Carly even included seating area—a bench and a fluffy white chair—so that Danielle could sit comfortably in her closet and try on her shoe collection.

This was something that I’ve been waiting to do for over 20 years.

Final Result

Unable to translate her sense of joy and accomplishment into words once the project was complete, Danielle invited friends and loved ones to a “closet reveal,” with a close friend of 30 years even flying in for the occasion.
