An Enviable Closet with Unexpected Details

What They Wanted

When Wendy and Damon moved to Atlanta, GA with their daughter, Chloe, the couple built a new Craftsman home after leaving a renovated Washington, DC Row-home, initially built in 1915, which still had very limited closet space. To help them merge their vision of a contemporary master closet with the more traditional look and feel of their Craftsman, they looked to California Closets Atlanta design consultant Jen Bellinetti to help create just the right aesthetic balance while incorporating unique organization solutions.

How we did it

The couple’s new closet could easily be mistaken for a high-end showroom with plenty of natural light, clean symmetry, and an ultra-chic aesthetic. A glass-topped island with compartmentalized drawers for smaller items helps to keep Damon and Wendy organized — it also serves as a subtle divider for balanced his-and-hers storage. A few unexpected but smartly selected features, such as dedicated areas for an espresso machine and a hidden mini fridge, as well as a valet rod for holding each days’ outfits, work to keep mornings running smoothly — no small achievement for the busy surgeon and architect.

Our designer understood what was important to us, and that I wanted to blend form and function in a way that would make our house not only more beautiful but also very functional.

I truly believe that friends are the family you choose. In this case, Jen has become the family that we've chosen.

Final Result

The first time Damon entered his new closet, he thought, “Now, this is a closet my wife will appreciate.” Wendy agreed — the increased organization was empowering.

And in addition to a gorgeous closet, the family discovered a new friend in their designer, Jen.
